On June 30, professors from the Seattle Pacific University, Dr. John Thoburn, Jeff Holguin and Christopher Toby visited Lutsk for a psychological training on combating post-traumatic syndrome.
They came to Ukraine to train specialists to work with adults and children affected by the war. At the training, representatives of local self-government, volunteers, psychologists and everyone who will work with people get acquainted with the algorithm of actions for dialogue with the community during the days of war.
In particular, it is about what types of help can be provided to victims of war, how to help people cope with grief and loss, what words should not be used when communicating with a person in a crisis, what to do for those who accidentally witnessed a shooting and death, how to communicate with citizens from the occupied territories.
"Today's challenges should prepare the specialists of our community, how to work in the direction of helping children and all those affected as a result of the events that Ukraine is going through!" - commented a member of the Lutsk City Council, a volunteer of the "DOBRA SPRAVA" foundation
The training takes place with the support of the Lutsk City Council, the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Seattle, and the "DOBRA SPRAVA" charitable foundation.
